- St Pierre a Marriott Hotel, has two dining rooms, formal and informal bistro (25 minute walk across fields, or a 7 minute drive)

Offers home cooked Italian food from its riverside location. In summer, ask for an outside table next to the river. These tables are undercover, and it is delightful to sit right by the water overlooking the river Wye - Hikari (Japanese Vegan) – a Vegan only Sushi and Japanese cuisine restaurant in the heart of Chepstow
- Two Rivers Marston’s Pub/Restaurant, towards Chepstow (6 mins drive). We have not eaten there for a while, this restaurant is part of a chain.
- Pontio Lounge A a vibrant, family- and dog-friendly café-bar located on High Street in Chepstow. Serving a full menu and breakfast all day.
- Stone Rock Lodge a highly-rated 3-star boutique guest house, award-winning pizzeria, and community wellness space in the heart of Chepstow
- Marmalade House a charming, dog-friendly vintage tea room located on the High Street in Chepstow. Known for its cosy atmosphere and unique decor, it offers afternoon tea, breakfast, and brunch
- The Palmer Centre, Chepstow open to the general public from 9am until 2pm, from Monday to Saturday inclusive. Focused on home-cooked style food ranging from simple sandwiches to all-day breakfast.
- The Indian Empire (On the Park Wall roundabout on the A48, 5 mins drive). In 2026 won an award

- Hanley Farm Shop Cafe in a Farm Shop. Good food. A 13 Minute drive
- Three Elephants Indian restaurant. 17 mins drive.
- The Anchor, Tintern – A 17 Minute drive
- Rock and Fountain Good food, pub grub plus, reasonable prices, Juliet and William recommend this for a casual night out.
- The Woodland Tavern Llanfair Discoed (15-20 mins drive)
Country pub with dining. - Steak on Six/PAD Celtic Manor Resort plus other restaurants, grills and bars (Newport 20 mins)
- NG Thai Food The best Thai in the area. Has fans and aircon for when it’s really hot. Closed on Mondays and Sundays (Lydney 24 minutes)
- The Whitebrook (Whitebrook 30 mins). A perfect venue for a celebration. Has a Michelin Star
- Gem 42 (Newport 31 mins). They create an evening of theatre, highy recommended for a celebration meal. Won Wales Restaurant of the Year 2026
- Junction 28 (Newport 35 mins) a highly regarded, stylish restaurant uniquely set within a beautifully converted former railway station in Bassaleg, Newport
- Black Bear Inn (Usk 40 mins) On it’s way to a Michelin star – but not as expensive. Worth a visit
- The Walnut Tree (Llanddewi Skirrid 45 mins) Michelin Star an iconic country inn located in the quiet village of Llanddewi Skirrid, just on the outskirts of Abergavenny
- Home at Penarth (Penarth 45 mins) Michelin Star. An intimate fine-dining restaurant located in the coastal town centre of Penarth, near Cardiff

- Millers Arms: a friendly pub that serves good wholesome meals. Developing a reputation for its welcome and good value so best to book (Mathern, within walking distance 8-10 mins walk). Recent Gatehouse guests said they had a fabulous ‘pub grub’ meal here.

- The Three Tuns a charming, historic 16th-century inn, right next to Chepstow Castle. A selection of cask real ales, ciders, and wines and daytime lunch menu and a highly praised traditional Sunday Roast.
