The Welsh Gatehouse: Historic Holiday Let

Edwardian Castle Rural Retreat

Built around 1270 in the time of Edward I, The Welsh Gatehouse was extensively refurbished in 2008, offering a charming loft-style living area within its ancient structure.

Original Beams and Stone Features

Retaining the beams, thick walls, and stone mullion windows. A deep leather sofa, wood burning stove and delightful sleeping space, all add to a uniquely romantic experience. You can even climb up to the top of the tower, to the viewing platform!

Luxury Modern Amenities

Heating is provided by night storage heaters and the wood burning stove.  The property boasts a modern ‘wet room’ with shower, a fully fitted kitchen with oven and hob, fridge and small freezer.

Downstairs there is a washing machine and tumble dryer if you need it. TV with freeview, DVD player, CD player with ipod docking facility.

Accessibility

Please note – this ancient building’s charm includes a steep spiral staircase.  Access to the gallery bedroom is via a companionway ladder, and requires you to duck underneath a beam. If you have any challenges around mobility please look at the accessibility statement.

Important: We strongly advise you to bring a couple of smaller bags rather than one very heavy and large suitcase as the steep spiral staircase has some 30 steps to get to the main living area, and space on the staircase is restricted.
